Mining Iron Ore on Taylor Ridge Early 1900s
August 27, 2021For a bried period of time there was iron ore mining on the Rome side of Taylor Tidge. A town was built to support the operation, Shackelton, Ga. By 1920 the mining dried up as did the small town.

June 29, 2021Born in Dirt Town in 1878, Fate played banjo with The Skillet Lickers, a popular string band in the 1920’s. He also made his one man band contraption which he played up until his death. He made the circuit through out Georgia playing.
